📌 General Questions
Q : What exactly is ArchCoach?
A : ArchCoach is a 1-on-1 architecture coaching service for students who need personalized feedback on their projects, portfolios, or academic work. Think of it like a private tutor for architecture, except instead of teaching theory, I help you improve your designs, avoid mistakes, and stand out.
I’m not a professor or TA; I’m a practicing architect with 10+ years of experience who helps students solve design problems.Q : Who is this for?
A : ArchCoach is designed for:
✅ Undergraduate/graduate architecture students struggling with studio projects.
✅ Thesis/dissertation students stuck on research or presentation.
✅ International students (I speak English & french and can adapt to different design standards).
✅ Beginners who feel overwhelmed by design software or concepts.
✅ Students applying for internships/jobs who need portfolio help.
Not for:
❌ Students looking for homework answers (I won’t do the work for you, I’ll teach you how to do it better).
❌ Those who want generic advice (my feedback is tailored to your project).
❌ People who aren’t willing to put in effort (coaching works best when you’re engaged).Q : How is this different from asking a professor or TA?
A : Four key differences:
- No academic bias, Professors/TA’s have to grade you; I only give honest, constructive feedback without grades.
- Real-world experience, I am working in commercial, residential, and institutional complex projects.
- Flexibility, You can book sessions on your schedule, not just during office hours.
- No fluff, I cut through the jargon and give you actionable steps, not vague critiques.
💰 Pricing & Payments
Q : Why should I pay for coaching when I can get free help from classmates or online forums?
A :Here’s why coaching is worth it:
✔ Personalized advice – Forums give generic answers; I analyze your specific project.
✔ Time efficiency – You’ll get clear, direct feedback in one session instead of weeks of trial and error.
✔ Avoid costly mistakes – A small tweak in your model / folio can save you months of rework.
✔ Career edge – Faculties & firms notice students with polished portfolios and structured thinking.Q : Is there a refund policy?
A : Yes, but with conditions to ensure fairness:
✅ First session is free – If you’re not satisfied, no charge.
✅ Refund within 48 hours – If you book a paid session and change your mind, I’ll refund you 100% (minus payment processing fees).
❌ No refunds after 48 hours, Because I block off time for you, and last-minute cancellations waste my time in my practice.
❌ No refunds for "I didn’t like the feedback", My role is to give honest, constructive criticism, not just praise.
❌ No refunds for Project Boost packages. Book a 1 off session for free before comiting.Q : What’s your policy on late payments?
A : Strict but fair:
✅ Payment is due at booking (to secure your slot).
✅ Late payments (after 48 hours) will cancel your session.
✅ No exceptions—this keeps the system fair for everyone.
📅 Booking & Scheduling
Q : How far in advance do I need to book?
A :It depends on demand:
- Standard sessions : Usually available within 1–3 days.
- Project packages : Book 1 week ahead (I need time to review your work between sessions).
- Jury Prep : Book 2-3 week in ahead (these are high demand)
Pro Tip: If you have a deadline, book as early as possible—slots fill up fast!Q : What if I need to reschedule or cancel?
A : No problem! Here’s the policy:
✅ Free rescheduling : Up to 24 hours before your session.
✅ Free cancellation : Up to 48 hours before your session (full refund).
❌ Late cancellations (within 24 hours) : 50% fee (because I block off time for you).
❌ No-shows : Full fee charged (I’ll reach out to reschedule).
How to reschedule:
Reply to your booking confirmation email.
Use the Calendly link in your email to pick a new time.Q : What if I’m in a different time zone?
A : No issue! I’ve worked with students from:
US (EST/PST)
Europe (CET)
Asia (IST, SGT)
Australia (AEST)
My availability is flexible—I’ll adjust to your schedule. Just book a time that works for you, and I’ll confirm.Q : Can I book multiple sessions at once?
A : Absolutely! In fact, I encourage it for project packages. Here’s how it works:
Quick Feedback : Book one session at a time.
Project Boost : Book multiple or full semester sessions upfront.
Why? Because consistency = better results. One session might help, but multiple sessions will transform your work.
🖥️ Technical & Process Questions
Q : What files should I share before the session?
A : To get the most out of your session, share:
✅ Your project files in PDF / JPG.
✅ Brief description of what you’re struggling with (e.g., "I’m stuck on the massing model").
✅ Any reference images (if you have specific inspirations).
✅ Your portfolio (if applicable) – I can review it during the session.
We will share screen so we can look at your project directly.
How to share:
Upload to Google Drive (link sent in your booking confirmation).
Do not email large files—use a cloud service.
I'll share a form, to be filled, prior to our session so I know ahead what we will talk aboutQ : How long are the sessions?
A : A typical session is about 60 minutes. Initial sessions are 45 minutes of effective work.
Pro Tip: i only offer 60 minute sessions as they are ideal for project-based feedback, you’ll get more done than in a 30-minute rush.Q : What happens during a typical session?
A : Here’s a real example of a Project Boost session:
- First 10 min: You share your screen and explain your project goals.
- Next 20 min: We review your work (models, drawings, renderings) and I give live feedback.
- Next 15 min: We discuss specific improvements (e.g., "Your circulation is weak, let’s try this layout").
- Last 10 min: You ask questions, and I suggest homework (e.g., "Redo this section and send it to me before next session").
After session: I send written notes if applicable. You’ll leave with:
✔ A clear action plan.
✔ Specific fixes for your project.
✔ Confidence in your design decisions.Q : Will you do the work for me?
A : No. My role is to teach you how to improve, not to do the work for you. Here’s why:
✅ You learn more by doing it yourself (with guidance).
✅ Firms want to see your skills, not mine.
✅ Ethical standards – I won’t compromise your academic integrity.What I will do:
✔ Point out mistakes in your work.
✔ Suggest better approaches.
✔ Help you refine your ideas.Q : Can you help with academic writing (e.g., thesis papers, reports)?
A : Yes, but with limits. I can help with:
✅ Structure (e.g., "Your methodology section is too vague, let’s reorganize it").
✅ Clarity (e.g., "This paragraph is confusing, here’s a better way to phrase it").
✅ Formatting (e.g., "Your citations are inconsistent, let’s fix that").I will not:
❌ Write sections for you.
❌ Proofread entire papers (I’ll focus on key areas).
❌ Guarantee a specific grade (grades depend on your professor).
For full editing services, I recommend a dedicated academic editor.
🔒 Confidentiality & Ethics
Q : Is my work kept confidential?
A : Absolutely. I treat all student work with strict confidentiality:
✅ No sharing of your files or feedback with others.
✅ No posting your work publicly without your permission.
✅ Secure storage : Files are stored in password-protected Google Drive folders and deleted 3 months after our last session.
Exceptions:
⚠️ If you explicitly consent me to share your work (e.g., for a testimonial).
⚠️ If you’re under 18, I’ll need parental consent to work with you.Q : Will this affect my academic standing?
A : No. Coaching is completely separate from your university work. I do not:
❌ Communicate with your professors.
❌ Share your work with your school.
❌ Violate any academic integrity policies.
My goal is to help you succeed, not to get you in trouble.Q : What if my professor finds out I’m getting outside help?
A : Most professors won’t mind, many encourage students to seek additional feedback. However:
✅ Check your school’s policy : Some programs have rules about external tutoring.
✅ Be transparent : If your professor asks, you can say: : "I hired a professional architect to get real-world feedback on my portfolio/model. It’s helped me improve."
If you’re worried, email me, I’ll help you phrase it in a way that’s honest and safe.Note : All of the sessions are recorded and kept until 3 months after our last session.
🎯 Student-Specific Questions
Q : I’m a beginner—will you still help me?
A : Yes! In fact, beginners often benefit the most because:
✔ I start from the basics and build up.
✔ I help you avoid bad habits early on.
✔ I explain real-world principles.
What I expect from beginners:
✔ A willingness to learn and ask questions.
✔ Patience : progress takes time.Q : I’m an international student : can you help with different design standards?
A : Yes! I’ve worked with students from:
US/Canada, UK/EU, Australia, Middle East, India, Asia
I adapt to:
✅ Your local building codes, we will cover the bylaws together
✅ Your university’s requirements.
✅ Your cultural/design context.Q : What if I’m not happy with the feedback?
A : My role is not to bring happiness but to be constructive, but I want you to be happy, here’s what happens:
- Tell me during the session : I’ll adjust my approach.
- Request a follow-up : We can schedule another session to refine the feedback.
- Ask for a refund : If you’re truly unsatisfied, I’ll refund your first session (no questions asked).
My goal is to help you improve, if the feedback isn’t working, we’ll find a better way.
⚖️ Comparison Questions
Q : How is this different from hiring a freelance architect?
A : Great question. Here’s the difference:
- ArchCoach :
✔ Focused on students
✔ Teaches you how to improve
✔ Affordable
✔ Flexible scheduling
- Freelance Architect :
- Does the work on your behalf
- Focused on firms/clients
- Limited availability
- Often project-based contracts
ArchCoach is like a personal trainer for your architecture skills, I help you get stronger, not just do the work for you.Q :What if I just need a quick answer, can’t I just use ChatGPT or YouTube?
A : ChatGPT/YouTube are great for theory, but they can’t:
❌ Review your specific project (they don’t see your sketches/models), global vision.
❌ Give tailored feedback (they give generic answers).
❌ Hold you accountable (no one checks if you actually improved).
ArchCoach = Personalized, actionable advice that actually moves the needle on your work.

✅ Auditory learners (I explain concepts clearly and slowly).
If you need accommodations, just let me know, I’m happy to adjust.Q : What if I’m in a crisis (e.g., failing a class, stuck on thesis)?
